About the Programme

The FASTNET Outreach programme provides funding for undergraduate students to undertake an 11 week summer research project with one of the research groups in Tyndall. The student will be assigned a task related to the research of the group, and introduced to the methods, equipment and software used by modern ICT scientists. The student will then apply these to their own assignment, and produce a written report of their results at the end of the 11 weeks. They will also make an oral presentation to the other bursary students, describing their project and their results. A number of events are organised for the bursary students throughout the summer, including tours of ICT companies and social outings, see Events.

A wide range of research topics are covered within the Tyndall National Institute. Potential applicants are invited to browse the webpages of the individual research groups listed below and choose one or two groups whose area of work they find particularly interesting.
