Tyndall researchers have developed advanced material deposition processes such as atomic layer deposition (ALD) to grow ultra thin layers (i.e. as little as one atom thick) of materials on surfaces, which provides a means to manufacture biocompatible self-cleaning materials, and controlled drug eluting devices such as cardiovascular stents.
