With the progress in the field of magnetic MEMS technologies there has been growing interest in developing electroplated, nano-structured hard-magnetic materials for microactuators, micromotors, microswitches etc. Recently, we reported the design & simulation of different electromagnetic power generators using CoPt/CoPtP micro-magnets. The Co-rich CoPtP films were galvanostatically deposited using the sulfamate bath. These films showed Co HCP phase and grain size(~20nm) and larger coercivity of over 1500Oe. The use of optimized pulse reverse (PR) plating parameters with addition of stress relieving additives was able to produce a thick (~50 microns), stress-free and nanostructured CoPtP films with improved magnetic properties.
