Who is eligible?
  1. Access to the facilities of the Tyndall National Institute under the National Access programme is available to all research staff and postgraduate students of all Irish Universities, Institutes of Technology and Research Institutes on the Island of Ireland, and who have the approval of their department head to submit a project proposal.
  2. Proposals will be accepted on the official National Access Programme Proposal form only. The proposal form must be fully completed & signed.
  3. Proposals will be accepted from: individual researcher applicants, multi-researcher teams within the same institute, or multi-institution teams working on a collaborative research programme.
  4. All eligible proposals will be evaluated by the national access committee, which is representative of all Irish Universities and a number of Institutes of Technology. The decision of this committee on the acceptability of a proposal will be final. However, in the event that a proposal is not accepted, researchers may submit a revised proposal based on feedback received from the access committee.
  5. Only proposals submitted to the official NAP e-mail address (nap@tyndall.ie click to email) or fax number (021-4270271) will be accepted for evaluation. (Email submission is preferred & will help accelerate proposal reviews).
  6. Where a proposal is approved, the National Access Programme will fund the normal costs of access to the facilities within Tyndall. Reasonable agreed travel and subsistence expenses for the visiting researchers will also be covered. Expense claims must be submitted on the official expense claim form and must be accompanied by receipts.
  7. The National Access Programme will not fund the salary costs of any visiting researchers or those associated with the proposal submission.
