Welcome to the Optoelectronics & Non-Linear Dynamics Research Group

The Optoelectronics & Non-Linear Dynamics Group consists of two sub-groups, both based in the excellent facilities provided at the Tyndall National Institute; the Laser Physics Group under Prof. John McInerney, affiliated with the Physics department in UCC, and the Photonic Device Dynamics Group under Dr. Guillaume Huyet, part of the Applied Physics and Instrumentation department in CIT. Please use the appropriate links below to visit the websites of each of these groups.

Photonic Device Dynamics Group

The Laser Physics Group, headed by Prof. John McInerney, studies semiconductor laser devices and optical amplifiers, in particular broad area lasers, with the aim of producing high power, high brightness devices. Other research topics include the non-linear dynamics of quantum dot devices and vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs).

The Photonic Device Dynamics Group, led by Dr. Guillaume Huyet, was created in September 2006. The group's research aims to advance the understanding of the dynamics of novel semiconductor materials and devices from both applied and fundamental viewpoints. Current areas of interest include the properties of quantum dot systems (principally InAs dots but also recently GaSb dots) and optical feedback and injection in semiconductor devices.
