Welcome to the homepage of the Quantum Optics Group, Physics Department, University College Cork and Tyndall National Institute.  The group was founded in September 2003 to investigate interactions between cold atomic systems and micro-optics with funding from Science Foundation Ireland.  Additional funding from IRCSET has permitted the group to expand.   The group is led by Dr. Síle Nic Chormaic and is contributing to advances in quantum technologies using cold atoms, optical nanofibres and microcavities.
