Postdoctoral Researcher– Machine Learning for Edge AI Systems

Contract: Full Time/Fixed Term

Tyndall National Institute is a research flagship of University College Cork and an internationally recognised European research centre in integrated ICT (Information and Communications Technology) encompassing materials, devices, circuits and systems. As Ireland’s largest Research and Technology Organisation (RTO),specialising in both electronics and photonics, Tyndall works with global industry and academia to transform research into products in its core market areas of electronics, communications, energy, health, agri-tech and the environment. With a network of over 200 industry partners and customers worldwide, Tyndall is focused on delivering human and economic impact from excellence in research. Tyndall is home to a research community of 600 people of over 50 nationalities.

Tyndall has recently received significant funding from the SFI Research Centre CONNECT for the SAPIENT (Self-Adaptive IoT Systems for Energy Optimization) project. Research aims to focus on integrating machine learning (ML) techniques into self-adaptive IoT systems so that ML can draw intelligent conclusions based on historical data, paving the way for better energy optimization.
Research aims of the project include the development of self-adaptive algorithms and techniques for energy optimization in IoT systems; the exploration of the integration of AI/ML in self-adaptive IoT systems; and the evaluation of the performance and effectiveness of the proposed approaches via extensive simulations and real-world experiments.

As a result, the Tyndall National Institute is therefore seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in Machine Learning / Data Science to join our team in this exciting and rapidly expanding R&D field. This exciting role will give the opportunity to work on a ground-breaking new ideas and projects with the opportunity to impact and define development and technology.
