The FameLab Ireland Final will be an unpredictable, enlightening and exciting event that sparks curiosity and gives the public an insight into the fascinating world of science. Viewers will have the power to judge contestants along with an esteemed panel from academia, media and industry. The winner of FameLab Ireland will then go on to represent the nation at the FameLab International Finals in November 2021.

Debismita Dutta, Material Science PhD student
in Tyndall National Institute

Debismita, originally from India, is a material science PhD student at Tyndall studying magnetic nanoparticles. She loves art, jazz, and all things science. She believes creative, distilled teaching can make science simpler, exciting, and fun. Debismita Dutta says:

"I'm very grateful to be able to represent the institute in the science communication space! Famelab has been a great learning experience for me, and I've got to meet some amazing people along the way across various disciplines of science."

Fernando Diaz, PhD student
in Tyndall National Institute

Fernando, also a PhD student at Tyndall, is originally from Spain. He decided to come to Ireland to learn English and fell in love with the country. Currently he is working on the development of an immunosensor for the detection of microorganisms in plants. He is grateful to FameLab for giving him the tools to share his passion for microbiology with society. He says:

"Thanks to Famelab, I have discovered that there are no barriers if you really want to make a big jump! That’s why I’m so sad to know this is the last year of Famelab. For me, Famelab is a tool capable of educating both children and adults thanks to the combination of humour and science communication."

Be sure to tune in to witness leading scientific research and interact with individuals in Ireland responsible for tackling some of the biggest scientific issues in the world today.

Best of luck to all involved!
