POB-38 Post-Doctoral Researcher in Photonics Packaging

Contract: Full Time / Fixed Term (Part-time flexible)

Job Details

The Photonics Packaging Group at the Tyndall Institute invites applications for an exciting position as a Postdoc researcher. The position takes responsibility for the design of advanced optomechanical components through to supporting the fabrication of these components in our assembly and packaging facilities at Tyndall. Applications of the technology under development include high-speed communication devices, medical devices for minimally invasive surgical procedures and remote sensors for the Internet-of-Things. Critically, many of these components will proceed to manufacture, so the candidate should be able to demonstrate experience in Design-for-Manufacture. The position also involves managing a number of projects which will run in parallel and with fixed deadlines. Therefore, experience in project management and an ability to prepare technical reports would be highly desirable. Many of the projects are based on industrial collaborations, so experience working with industry is highly desirable. Candidates with experience in photonic and optics are desirable. However, this is not a critical requirement as training in optics relevant for the position will be provided.
