Tyndall (Paid) Marketing Internship 2021

Tyndall National Institute at University College Cork invites applications for a Digital Marketing Communication Internship. Tyndall is a leading deep-tech European research institute and is one of Ireland’s six National Labs, specializing in both electronics and photonics. Tyndall works with industry and academia to transform research into products in its core market areas of electronics, communications, energy, health, agri-tech & the environment. With a network of over 200 industry partners and customers worldwide, we are focused on delivering human and economic impact from excellence in research. Tyndall is home to a research community of 600 people of 48 nationalities.

We are seeking to build our brand recognition and reputation in new and existing market segments and our marketing and communications will be impact driven. It will communicate along the key impacts of job creation, research excellence, skilled graduate development, industry investment, increased funding and international reach. A successful marketing and communications programme will ensure that Tyndall is seen as delivering on its strategic objectives.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Digital Marketing Communication Internship has been established to give students and post graduates the experience of working in a dynamic, creative and fast paced work environment.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic marketer with a passion for communication and a creative curiousity. Our internship will give you essential experience in marketing and communication fields - brand management, PR, public affairs, content marketing, external campaigns, internal communications, digital asset creation, web and social media, marketing strategy, and reporting.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL

  • Report to the Web and Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist
  • Lead on the development and delivery of their own project to be determined on starting the role.
  • Actively participate in growing Tyndall’s on-line presence and building on-line communities and engagement through our website, social media channels and e-newsletters.
  • Help ensure that all web and digital communications are up-to-date, relevant and engaging.
  • Help to source, create, plan, manage and optimize Tyndall’s online content.
  • Content media production (if skillset allows), i.e. social media objects, video.
  • Deliver on reporting and administrative tasks.
  • Support on project budgeting, financial management and processing of purchase orders.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Completed a degree course relevant to Marketing and Communications, Science, Commerce or the Arts.
  • Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking combined with creativity and resourcefulness in developing and managing marketing activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor, survey, analyse and report on performance, utilising available analytics tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an understanding of licensing and GDPR compliance requirements.
  • Evidence of creative ability and clarity with a good command of written English combined with excellent communication, organisational and planning skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills and initiative is required with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability as a strong team player with high level of flexibility and also confident to work independently.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.

 

DESIREABLE SKILLS

  • Undertaking or have completed a Masters qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Good working knowledge of one or more CMS platforms.
  • Programming capability.
  • Experience with graphic design software and media editing.
