Cara-Lena Nies is an expert in atomistic simulations of complex materials using density functional theory. Her research focuses on designing advanced materials for sustainable development and (opto)electronic devices. Currently, she is researching the effect of boron doping on the optical and electronic properties of III-nitride alloys. She is also involved in projects on predicting the metal morphology of metals on 2D materials and modelling the growth of Cu on modified TaN surfaces.
She is the current chair of the Tyndall Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
