“Dr. Lester Ho is a a Principal Scientist at the Wireless Communications Lab at Tyndall National Institute in Dublin. He leads a team performing research on network optimization, wireless network simulations, wireless sensing and machine learning techniques. His research spans a diverse array of applications, including 5G and future 6G cellular networks, UAV sensing and communications, as well as quantum networks.
Prior to joining Tyndall, he was with Nokia Bell Labs from 2003 to 2021, where he was a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff. There, he led research on self-optimizing networks, cellular architectures and improving energy efficiency of networks. His has also led the commercialization of research in this domain into Nokia’s (formerly Alcatel-Lucent’s) cellular and Wi-Fi product portfolios, which continues to have significant impact in networks today.
Lester received his PhD on wireless network optimization from Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom in 2003. He has over 50 papers in journals and conference proceedings, and holds over 60 patents in the area of wireless communications and autonomous networks.”
