Peter Finnegan is Head of New Ventures at Tyndall National Institute, where he leads Tyndall’s efforts in relation to spin-out, spin-in and incubation activity. Peter is also Manager of ESA Space Solutions Centre Ireland, a Consortium Partnership that is supporting Irish companies that are developing either upstream or downstream applications. Peter is also a Co-Founder of the Launching Future Disruptive Technologies Summit, the inaugural version of which took place in September 2022.
Peter is an experienced Director that has amassed over 25 years of experience across the public and private sectors, in Ireland and internationally. He is a former Director of Blackstone LaunchPad at UCC, a student entrepreneurship initiative that operates in the U.S. and Ireland. He has also acted as a Manager of the New Frontiers Programme, Enterprise Ireland’s National Entrepreneur Development Programme.
He spent five years in the Middle East as Corporate Services Manager for Bahrain International Investment Park (BIIP). BIIP is the Kingdom of Bahrain’s flagship strategic site to attract multinationals and export-orientated indigenous companies to locate manufacturing and professional services in Bahrain. It provides a world-class location for internationally focused businesses servicing regional and international markets.
Prior to leaving Ireland in 2005 Peter was the Enterprise Development Manager at NovaUCD, a purpose-built, state-of-the-art incubation facility for knowledge-intensive companies that acts as the hub for new ventures and entrepreneurs at University College Dublin.
He is a graduate of both UCC and the ACCA, having attained a B.A., MBS (Entrepreneurialism) and Diploma in Financial Management.
He is a former Chairman of the Bahrain Irish Business Network, a Member of the Asisa Pacific Ireland Business Forum and was also a former Member of the Governing Body of University College Cork.
