“Laser Scribing Fabrication of Graphitic Carbon Biosensors for Label-Free Detection of Interleukin-6”

1. What encouraged you to submit your application to the 2021 Postgraduate Research Publication of the Year?

This is my first paper after starting my PhD where I have collaborated extensively with my colleagues here in Tyndall.

2. What inspired you to choose the subject of your paper?

My PhD project is based on Laser Induced Graphitic material, where we are mainly looking for different applications of this material in the field of sensors, super-capacitor etc. Here in this work, we have employed this material for Bio-sensing to extend our research to multi-disciplinary areas.

3. What’s your paper about and how did you prepare for it? What role did research excellence play in your approach?

Our paper is about a Bio-sensor platform for detecting a Bio-marker, namely Interleukin-6, which is important for inflammatory processes in the human body. We prepared Graphitic carbon materials by Laser scribing, which plays the role of a label free electrode in differential pulse voltammetric detection of target molecules.

4. The selection for Research Publication of the Year is extremely competitive. What is your advice for those aspiring for nomination next year?

Everyone’s work is important in its area of interest, which can enrich knowledge of the scientific world. Even infinitesimal amounts of progress can serve for mankind and everyone must take this opportunity to disseminate their full fact findings to the scientific community.

5. What is the single most significant support Tyndall has been able to offer you in achieving your research goals? (Please provide any detail on additional supports that assisted? How has Tyndall enabled you to fulfil your potential in this regard?)

All the people here in Tyndall have supported with their knowledge of expertise, invaluable recommendations, trainings and laboratory resources throughout this research works.
