Congratulations to Professor Dimitra Psychogiou on receiving the 2023 IEEE MTT-S Outstanding Young Engineer Award, for “Outstanding early career achievements in the development of 3D and planar RF filtering devices, with multi-configurable and multi-functional capabilities and exemplary service to the Society”.
Professor Psychogiou is a Full Professor of Microwave Engineering at the School of Engineering and Architecture, University College Cork and the Head of the Advanced RF Technology Group at Tyndall National Institute under a Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Research Professorship.
Upon receiving news of the award, Professor Psychogiou said “I am thrilled to receive such a recognition from the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT-S) society, one of our largest technical societies in the area of Microwave Technologies. The award is a result of the work that we do in the Advanced RF Technology Group at Tyndall National Institute since 2020 as well as in my previous research group at the University of Colorado Boulder, USA. I look forward to attending the awards ceremony at the IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS) in San Diego.”
Professor Psychogiou has been leading the Advanced RF Technology Group at Tyndall National Institute since 2020. Her research focuses on highly-reconfigurable RF front-end and antenna technologies for next generation of 5G/6G wireless and space communication systems. Specifically, her work has been focusing on microwave and millimetre-wave RF filters with high levels of agility, passive RF components for multi-functional RF front-ends, broadband antenna arrays, non-reciprocal RF components, acoustic wave resonator-based RF filters and additive manufacturing techniques for 3D antenna systems.
The IEEE Microwave Theory and Technical Society consist of more than 11,000 members worldwide, with the IEEE MTT-S Awards recognising the outstanding contributions of those in the field of microwave theory and techniques, significant achievements in their career, or distinguished services to the society.
The award will be conferred at the annual Society Awards Banquet in San Diego during the International Microwave Symposium week from June 11-16, 2023.
