Tyndall Announces Expansion of Entrepreneurs in Residence Programme

Tyndall National Institute has announced the expansion of its Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIR) Programme, which will support Tyndall’s goal of creating high quality deep-tech spin-out companies.

At a recent event held in Tyndall, two new Entrepreneurs were welcomed to the programme: Denise Tormey and Joe O’Keeffe. They join Tyndall’s existing Entrepreneur in Residence, Declan O’Mahoney.

Tyndall’s EIR Programme provides researchers at Tyndall with an opportunity to explore their business proposition with experienced entrepreneurs who will provide valuable guidance and mentorship at a very early stage in the lifecycle of the proposition.

Joe O’Keeffe is an experienced entrepreneur and former VP of Display Research at Meta. Joe is also the former founder/CEO of three Tyndall spinouts including InfiniLED, a Tyndall spin-out company that was acquired by Facebook (Meta) in 2016. Speaking about Tyndall’s EIR Programme, Joe said,

“I am very excited to expand my interactions with Tyndall under the EIR initiative and look forward to supporting many more start-up teams in their journey into the commercial world.”

Declan O’Mahoney, an engineer and entrepreneur based in Ireland with extensive international experience in developing technology companies, said:

“I am delighted to see the expansion of the EIR programme at Tyndall. Hopefully, this signals a renewed energy and focus to create valuable high technology start-up companies.”

Tyndall CEO, Professor William Scanlon, who was a panellist at the recent EIR event, said:

“The expansion of Tyndall’s EIR Programme further strengthens our commitment to establishing deep-tech start-ups and spin-out companies. We look forward to welcoming our new Entrepreneurs in Residence as part of our New Ventures programme at Tyndall.”

All Tyndall personnel will have the opportunity to benefit from the programme through direct contact with the EIRs, with the support of the New Ventures Manager, Peter Finnegan.
