Anas R. S. Abuznaid is a PhD researcher at the International Energy Research Centre (IERC), Tyndall National Institute, University College Cork, Ireland. His research focuses on smart energy systems, particularly the implementation of local energy markets and local flexibility markets for energy communities.
His work involves developing and evaluating computational frameworks that connect electricity forecasting, distributed energy resources, and market-based energy management. He investigates how artificial intelligence and probabilistic forecasting can support operational decisions under uncertainty, with a particular focus on community net-load forecasting and energy flexibility coordination. His research interests include integrated power and energy systems, smart grids, renewable energy integration, and data-driven approaches to local electricity market participation.
He holds a master’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering with high honours from Istanbul Aydın University, where his thesis focused on designing a novel controller for residential homes connected to smart grids. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical power engineering from Palestine Polytechnic University. His academic background and current doctoral research combine power-system modelling, time-series analysis, and simulation-based evaluation to support more flexible and sustainable energy systems.
