Anas Abu Znaid is an experienced academic and engineer specialising in power systems and smart grid technologies. He currently serves as a researcher at Tyndall and University College Cork (UCC), where he is involved in cutting-edge research on energy systems, intelligent energy management, and smart grid technologies.
Anas holds a Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Istanbul Aydın University), where his thesis focused on designing a novel controller for residential homes connected to smart grids. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Power Engineering (Palestine Polytechnic University).
He has hands-on experience working in energy laboratories at both Istanbul Aydın University and Koç University in Turkey, contributing to research and development activities in the field of smart energy technologies. Additionally, he worked with ABB and Siemens in Turkey as a machine operator and research assistant, where he gained expertise in SCADA systems, PLC programming, photovoltaic solar systems, and intelligent electrical network technologies.
Anas is skilled in AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, MATLAB, PSCAD, and various solar analysis and simulation tools. His current research interests include intelligent energy systems, peer-to-peer energy trading, AI-based energy management, and system simulation for electricity markets. He is an active member of several professional organisations, including IEEE, the Palestinian Engineers Association, and the Jordanian Engineers Association.
