Dr Melih Senel is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Tyndall National Institute, working in the area of photonics packaging and systems integration. His work focuses on the development of practical packaging solutions for advanced photonic systems, with particular interest in silicon photonics, optical alignment, fibre-to-chip coupling, automation, and high-precision assembly.
Before joining Tyndall, Melih worked at Eon Photonics, progressing from R&D Engineer to Team Leader and Manager. In these roles, he contributed to optical systems, systems engineering, research and development, and business development activities. This experience provided him with a broad technical and leadership background spanning optical system design, applied photonics, and system-level implementation.
His current interests include manufacturable photonic packaging solutions, automated assembly processes, and reliable optical integration methods for next-generation photonic technologies.
