Rajan Bharti

MicroNano Systems

Rajan Bharti is a PhD researcher at Tyndall National Institute, investigating electrically active defects in semiconductor materials and devices for next-generation microLED technologies, through a collaborative research programme with Meta Platforms Technologies.

His research focuses on understanding the origin, nature, and impact of defects across the bulk, surfaces, interfaces, and processing of miniaturised optoelectronic devices. He combines advanced electrical, optical, and materials characterisation with physics-based modelling to understand defect mechanisms and develop strategies for their mitigation, supporting more reliable and efficient microscale semiconductor and optoelectronic devices.

Rajan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics (Honours) from Hindu College, University of Delhi, and a Master’s degree in Physics from IIT Kharagpur. He received the Wrixon Travel Bursary in 2025 and was awarded at the 2026 Tyndall Poster Competition.
