For the EU to reach its desired research and innovation level, steps need to be taken to improve the overall attractiveness of, and resources and capacity for, novel innovations. The EU-funded NET4Air project aims to assist the EU in reaching its goal. To do so, the project will introduce a networking centre for excellence in environmental monitoring along with training, staff exchange and more to foster excellence in specialists and researchers working on environmental monitoring solutions. These actions will help bridge the gap between research and innovation in Europe while at the same time improving expertise in immersive technologies (IMT) and transitioning IMT research and education to open science.
