Rapid technological improvement in the semiconductor industry has resulted in a boom in small devices. An electronic device that dramatically reduces its power consumption and can be powered by an alternative green energy source, enabling the vision of the Internet of Things (IoT), represents a real challenge. The EU-funded UBIGIoT project will apply a synergetic approach, targeting multisource harvesters and System-on-Chip (SoC) design, to increase the energy efficiency of an IoT sensor node. The project will reduce time-to-market and reduce the cost of energy-autonomous Wireless Sensor Nodes. UBIGIoT will address challenging problems concerning performance and also verify and validate the effectiveness of this approach in demonstrations of industrial interest.
