2026 Summer Fellowship Programme
Applications for the 2026 cohort are now open.
Students based in Ireland can apply here.
Students based in the EU who wish to undertake a NanoIC project can apply here.
The Tyndall & IPIC Summer Fellowship Programme attracts students who are studying STEM in the Republic of Ireland, while also offering five places for STEM students from across the EU, and provides successful applicants with a truly immersive experience.
The Summer Fellowship Programme will allow you to work with renowned researchers at Tyndall National Institute, IPIC the SFI Centre for Photonics and MCCI. You’ll receive access to world-class research environments, and the opportunity to learn from award-winning scientists and researchers who are at the cutting edge of deep-tech research.
To support you during the programme, you’ll be partnered up with a senior researcher that’s relevant to your chosen research area. As this is a paid internship, you’ll receive a generous stipend while undertaking a 12-week research project complemented by a workshop series. You’ll learn about research commercialisation, communication and more. The Summer Fellowship Programme has been designed in a flexible manner for blended working that accommodates online remote learning as well as supervised lab access for each summer fellow.
To be considered for a summer fellowship position, you need to be enrolled as an undergraduate student in a Republic of Ireland based university or institute of technology from all STEM fields or be one of five undergraduate STEM students from across the EU applying specifically to undertake a NanoIC project.
Summer fellows have the opportunity to work in a variety of specialised fields, including:
- Compound Semiconductors
