**Deadline for Applications is 4pm Monday 14th February **
Applications are now open for the 2022 Tyndall National Institute TY week Programme.
The Tyndall Transition Year (TY) programme will give secondary school students a flavour of a week in the life of a researcher both online and onsite in our world-class research facility.
The programme will be held online from the 7th – 11th March between 9.30 – 12.30pm, with self-directed learning preparing their mini projects from 1pm.
On Thursday the 10th March, students will have the opportunity to join us onsite in Tyndall from 9.30am - 12.00pm and meet our award-winning scientists and researchers who are the cutting edge of deep-tech research.
All students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the programme on this day and masks must be worn while on-site. The Tyndall TY Programme gives transition year secondary school students the chance to discover topics like electronics, wireless sensors, materials science, electrochemistry, photonics and physics through talks, demonstrations and lab tours. As part of their TY work experience, students will also be assigned a mini project to work on during self-directed learning time based on one of four broad themes:
Each student must research their assigned theme area and create a poster which they will present for 5 mins each at the end of the week.
Places are limited and not everyone who applies will secure a place. The decision of the judging panel is final.
Students will be informed no later than 6pm on 17th of February regarding the outcome of their application.
