Collaborative Research

 

National and European Union supported programs are available that encourage and fund collaborative research between Industry the national research providers. Tyndall is a leading participant in many of these programs. Many of the established programs are open to new industry partners and new project consortia are regularly formed providing opportunities for industry to participate and specify new research topics.

 

Tyndall researchers have years of experience working with industry and other academic collaborators worldwide. Through a range of collaborative and contract research models Tyndall delivers technology solutions to Industry challenges.

Technology Centres

Tyndall is host to the Enterprise Ireland-funded Technology Centre for Microelectronics Circuits Centre Ireland (MCCI) and IERC (International Energy Research Centre).

 

The Microelectronics Circuits Centre Ireland (MCCI) is advancing leading edge research in solid state circuits with the aim of securing Ireland’s position as the location of choice for fabless semiconductor companies and multinational integrated device manufacturers. The centre will develop and license intellectual property in microelectronics to companies that can take this technology worldwide and build their businesses on it for the benefit of the Irish economy.

 

The International Energy Research Centre (IERC) is an industry-led collaborative research centre in the field of integrated sustainable energy systems, and is jointly funded by the Irish government and industry members. It is one of the largest funded technology centres in Ireland, with a portfolio of approximately €5m worth of investment already underway.

 

The IERC delivers world leading collaborative research to meet global societal needs for secure, affordable and sustainable energy services. It enables partners to develop new products and services that will ensure real energy demand reductions across society. The centre provides an energy research environment that combines business innovation with research excellence for energy demand side efficiency and systems integration challenges.
