Tyndall recently celebrated its third Annual Recognition Awards (TARAs). On the day we recognised the significant contribution, commitment and impact made by staff and postgraduate students over the last 12 months.
A total of 121 staff and postgraduates were nominated for awards across a variety of categories, recognising those in engineering, technical and professional support, postgraduate students, mentors, postdoctoral and research categories.
The ceremony was hosted by Tyndall CEO, Professor William Scanlon, and Tyndall’s People & Culture Manager, Claire Cooke.
The winners at the 2024 TARAs were:

- Early Postgraduate Student Poster of the Year Award – Aashi Gupta

- Education & Public Engagement/Outreach Person of the Year Award – Hasti Yavari
- Lab Manager Safety Award – Finbarr Waldron
- Lab/Workshop Safety Award – Donal O’ Sullivan
- Individual Safety Award – Sofia Teixeira
- Mentor of the Year Award –Michael Nolan
- Early Career Researcher of the Year Award –Sanathana Konugolu
- Experienced Researcher of the Year Award –Lynette Keeney
- Research Team of the Year Award –Quantum Team
- Support Person of the Year Award – Louise Burgoyne
- Support Team of the Year Award – Maintenance Team
- Outstanding Customer Service Person of the Year Award –Martin O’ Connell
- People & Culture Award – Individual –Ann Heffernan
- People & Culture Award – Team – Biophotonics Team
