As Tyndall enters a pivotal decade for Ireland’s semiconductor ambitions, its expanded Executive Leadership Team is focused on turning strategic intent into coordinated national delivery.
One of the four new leaders driving Tyndall 2030 is Director of Finance and Business Operations, Damian Nestor.
By strengthening financial sustainability, overseeing major capital investment, and supporting effective governance, Damian plays a critical role in enabling Tyndall to operate as a robust national platform, ensuring the Institute’s ambition is underpinned by strong financial stewardship and resilient systems.

What is your current role?
In my role, I provide leadership across Tyndall’s Finance, Legal, and Quality Management functions. I ensure the institute’s financial strength by guiding financial strategy, budgeting, and risk management. I also drive operational excellence, legal compliance, oversee major capital budgets, and ensure that systems and processes remain fit for purpose. In addition, I serve as Board Secretary and deliver critical financial insights to the executive team and wider stakeholders, supporting Tyndall’s strategic growth and its broader economic impact.
What path led you here?
My 30‑year career has taken me from Ireland’s food and agriculture sector to senior leadership roles within U.S. high‑tech multinationals. Along the way, I’ve progressed from finance into broader organisational leadership, guided by a commitment to continuous learning, strong relationship building, and a collaborative approach to working with—and leading—teams. As a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), I feel both privileged and grateful for the opportunities this professional accreditation has afforded me.
What have been the highlights of your new role to date?
Delivering the funding milestone that secures Tyndall’s future growth has been a major standout achievement. The recent government funding announcement represents the culmination of the extensive work of a talented, motivated and dedicated team, both past and present, enabling Tyndall to move forward confidently with its ambitious vision.
What are your priorities for the next stage of Tyndall’s growth?
Enable our teams to deliver on the strategic and operational expectations demanded by both our internal and external stakeholders.
What long‑term impact do you hope to make in your role?
To empower Tyndall to deliver on the growth opportunities enabled by our facility expansion, we must foster a culture where our talented, motivated, and career-driven people can truly flourish. Championing a culture of collaboration, and equipping the teams with the best processes, systems, and technologies to support their success and enable the organisation to realise its full potential.
Do you have a role model who influenced your career choice?
I have been very fortunate to have been supported, guided and mentored by some truly exceptional people throughout my career. Being open to feedback, not all of it welcomed at the time I must admit, has been a key influence on both my career choice and progression. Putting family first always has been hugely important for me, together with the privilege of knowing, learning from and working alongside some outstanding leaders throughout my career.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Recognise and learn from the wisdom of those who have walked the path before you.
