Tyndall WSN has an outstanding record of technology transfer and licensing to Industry.
WSN Group Head, Brendan O’Flynn was awarded a UCC University Staff Recognition Impact Award for his Outstanding Contribution in this area. “For his outstanding achievements across all of the criteria for this award category including creativity and innovation, building collaborations, identifying and developing strategic opportunities and self-starter capability. The Selection Committee was particularly impressed by his leadership impact through development of an internationally-recognised, industry–relevant research programme, the dissemination of knowledge, and the exploitation of research through technology transfer and commercialisation”.
“With the above in mind, since 2009, Brendan’s team has consistently licensed IP to industry, in Ireland, USA and China, accounting for 15% of all UCC licenses in this period, the highest for any one team across the whole UCC campus” - UCC President, Dr. Michael Murphy.
