FRZG-3 Research Assistant position in Nanoelectronic Materials and Devices Group (NMD)

Contract: Full Time/Fixed Term

Tyndall National Institute at University College Cork invites applications for a research assistant position aimed at research on the gate stack electrical and structural properties for new generation of spintronic devices. The research assistant role is funded by the EU INTERFAST project, and includes SEM, AFM and temperature-dependent electrical characterisation of test structures and spin-based logic devices as well as data analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

• The candidate will need to significantly contribute to the structural and electrical characterisation of logic device gate stack, data analysis and reporting.
• Participate in Education and Public Engagement activities, as required.
• Ensure all activities are compliant with the required Health and Safety standard.
• Ensure all activities are compliant with the Tyndall Quality Management system.
• Carry out any additional duties, particularly contributing to characterisation of other electronic devices, as may reasonably be required within the general scope and level of the post.

Essential Criteria

• The candidate should have a M.Sc. in Engineering, Physics or Chemistry.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience in the structural and electrical characterisation of gate stack for logic devices
• Excellent hands-on lab skills in characterisation, problem-solving, etc. and willing to work in the lab, and in a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

This is a full-time, specified purpose 3-month position, with possible extension starting at appointment and tied to available funding.

Appointment may be made on the IUA Research Assistant Scale €27,380 - €36,786 per annum. Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
