Wrixon Research Excellence Bursaries

Following on from the launch of the Wrixon Research Excellence Bursary on July 6, the 2022 Bursary is now open to submissions from Tyndall-based postgraduate students.   

The aim of the Wrixon Research Excellence Bursary is to recognise and promote Research Excellence in Tyndall, with two categories open for submissions.

Annual Wrixon Research Excellence Bursary  

The bursary is open to applications from Tyndall-based postgraduate students, and will be awarded on the basis of accomplishments during the PhD/Masters research. The value of each individual prize will be €2,000. The committee aim to grant one or two Wrixon Research Excellence Bursaries based on submissions to the 2022 Call.

Annual Wrixon Research Excellence Travel Bursary   

The aim of the Travel Bursary is to support PhD students in the pursuit of Research Excellence, to broaden the postgraduate student experience and to promote new national and international research collaborations. The scheme is to support research visits up to a maximum period of 6 months.

One or two Research Excellence Travel Bursaries will be awarded annually.

These substantial bursary awards have been made possible through the generosity of Professor Gerry Wrixon, past President of UCC and a member of the founding team of the National Microelectronics Research Centre (NMRC) in 1982, which was the forerunner of Tyndall National Institute (2004).
  
Please note: Applicants cannot apply for both an excellence travel bursary and an excellence research bursary in the same year.
