Contract Type: Full Time/Fixed Term (24 months)
The Wireless Communications Laboratory at Tyndall National Institute in Dublin is advertising for the position of a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher in the ENERGISE project, which is a Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund (DTIF) project that aims at delivering technologies to achieve energy efficiency in Open RAN.
The successful candidate will perform research on hardware-aware optimisation of wireless transmissions for energy efficiency. This includes the development of advanced energy consumption models that can automatically adapt to the Radio Unit (RU) hardware used, and algorithms to automatically optimize the coding, modulation schemes, and scheduling based on the RU hardware’s energy model. The developed techniques will be implemented into rApp and xApp software and tested in Open RAN testbeds.
Tyndall’s Wireless Communications Laboratory intends to grow to 50+ researchers based in Dublin. As part of this, follow-up opportunities within the lab may be available after the successful completion of the ENERGISE project, subject to performance.
