Free 'Ray Days' Online Lunchtime Talk Series

The ‘Invisible light’ project in collaboration with Tyndall, IPIC, the School of Looking and the Crawford Art Gallery launched on Thursday 15th October. Although the exhibition sadly had to close its doors to visitors due to the country moving to level 3 restrictions with the current pandemic, we're delighted to share that the exhibition has been brought to life online through the public engagement initiative ‘Ray Days’.

Every Thursday lunchtime for the next 7 weeks, free talks will commence online which will explore the art and science behind the Invisible Light exhibition.

Talks are free but pre-booking and registration is essential through Eventbrite.

Four Tyndall researchers are participating in this creative initiative and will reveal the scientific context behind these works of art.

Schedule of Talks:

15th October: Gamma Rays - Michael Nolan (Tyndall) and the School of Looking

22nd October: X-Rays - Veronica Biolcati (Tyndall) and the School of Looking

29th October: Ultraviolet - Daniela Iacopino (Tyndall) and the School of Looking

5th November: Visible Light & The Animal Debate - Daniela Iacopino (Tyndall) and the School of Looking

12th November: Infrared - Brian Corbett (Tyndall) and the School of Looking

19th November: Microwaves - Michael Nolan (Tyndall) and the School of Looking

26th November: Radio Waves - Michael Nolan (Tyndall) and the School of Looking

This initiative is funded by Science Foundation Ireland’s (SFI) Discover Programme and developed with scientific collaborators from Tyndall National Institute and Irish Photonic Integration Centre (IPIC).
