Patricia returned to Brussels to serve as Head of Cabinet to Commissioner McGuinness in 2022, prior to which she was Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer with the Irish Department of Agriculture.  

From 2010-2014 she was a member of Commissioner Máire Geoghegan-Quinn’s cabinet, where she had responsibility for research and innovation policy in areas including the bioeconomy and health. Before returning home from Brussels, Patricia was Deputy Head of Cabinet to Commissioner Tibor Navracsics, where in addition to management aspects, she had portfolio responsibility for the Joint Research Centre, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, Higher Education and innovation in education. Patricia has also worked in Poland as Ireland’s first Agricultural Attaché in Central Europe.

Patricia is a veterinary surgeon, and holds an MSc in European Food Regulation as well as diplomas from the King’s Inns and the Law Society of Ireland. She is currently working towards a PhD with the Institute of Public Administration.
