BOC Gases Postgraduate Bursary Award 2023 Winner Liudmila Khokhlova

The BOC Gases postgraduate bursary was awarded to this year's winner Liudmila Khokhlova by Mr Kieran Hennessy, Business & Relations Manager of BOC Gases. BOC is the largest provider of industrial, medical, and special gases in the UK and Ireland. The BOC Gases bursary is awarded annually to students for their exceptional work.

Liudmila was awarded the bursary for her work on the “Non-invasive Assessment of Knee Condition Using Acoustic Emission Monitoring.”

Liudmila’s work presents the development and evaluation of a robust and reliable non-invasive method for knee status assessment. This assessment is done using joint acoustic emission (AE) monitoring. The results of Liudmila’s work contribute to the development of this method from both an engineering and clinical point of view, therefore bringing AE monitoring one step closer to clinical practice. This technology has many potential uses, including objective evaluation of osteoarthritis (OA) drug effectiveness in clinical trials, improving rehabilitation progress and developing low-cost, potentially wearable solutions.

Congratulations to Liudmila Khokhlova!
