Congratulations to Tyndall researchers Brian Corbett and Pleun Maaskant along with our Technology Transfer Case Manager Anthony Morrissey who last night won the Mature Spinout Company Award at the Knowledge Transfer Ireland (KTI) Impact Awards 2017.
The team won for their involvement in Tyndall-spinout company InfiniLED's sale to leading Virtual Reality company Oculus, headquartered in California.
Based on a breakthrough by Brian and Pleun, the key to InfiniLED’s technology is its ability to create low-power LEDs, which was commercialised when spun out in 2011 by InfiniLED.
The KTI Awards showcase the success in knowledge transfer carried out in Irish higher education institutions and publicly funded research organisations. The awards recognise top performance in industry engagement and commercialisation of research, and they pay tribute to the businesses and research performing organisations involved in knowledge transfer.
