Moore4Medical - Accelerate Innovation in Emerging Medical Devices with Open Technology Platforms

The Moore4Medical EC ECSEL project, comprising of 68 partners from across Europe, is focused on advancing open technology platforms to accelerate innovation in emerging medical devices.

The research addresses emerging medical applications and technologies that offer significant new opportunities for patients as well as for industry including:

  • bioelectronic medicines
  • organ-on-chip
  • drug adherence monitoring
  • smart ultrasound
  • radiation free interventions
  • continuous monitoring

The new technologies will help fight the increasing cost of healthcare by: reducing the need for hospitalisation, helping to develop personalized therapies, and realising intelligent point-of-care diagnostic tools.

The final project meeting (from 9-11th May) involving more than 90+ delegates, which was co-hosted by the Irish partners including Tyndall, Abbvie, Boston Scientific and Integer, was held at Tyndall National Institute (Cork, Ireland).

Successful technology outputs were showcased, based on selected demonstrators, presentations and a poster session.

Moore4Medical is an exemplar multinational, multidisciplinary project, led by Philips, not only for advancing a range of emerging medical device technologies, but also for advancing beyond state-of-the-art knowledge and knowhow for design, manufacture and testing of emerging digital healthtech.

Tyndall is a proud partner of the Moore4Medical project, thanks to joint funding from EC ECSEL programme and Enterprise Ireland, and we were delighted to welcome the consortium to Tyndall and Cork this week.
