Tyndall well-represented at APEC 2023

Tyndall recently attended the leading conference for power electronic professionals, Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC), which took place in Orlando, Florida. APEC focuses on the practical and applied aspects of the power electronics business. The APEC program addresses a broad range of topics in the use, design, manufacture, and marketing of all kinds of power electronics. 


Tyndall presence at the event included Professor Cian O’Mathuna, Mike Hayes, Willie Lawton, Dr Ranajit Sai with MCCI's Seamus O’Driscoll, Brendan O’Sullivan and Hugh Smiddy from the commercial team. The Tyndall team saw great success at the event, attending and presenting at high-quality professional education seminars and showcasing our research excellence to an overflowing exhibit hall!


Tyndall’s presentations included Hasan Baghbaderani speaking about 'Core Loss Mechanisms in Different Soft Magnetic Materials', Brendan O’Sullivan speaking about 'Gate Driver Chip-Set Using Low Volt-Second Pulse Transformer for Galvanic Signal Isolation', Mike Hayes speaking about 'Micro-power Energy Harvesting for Retrofitted Wireless Sensors in Buildings' and Dr Ranajit Sai speaking at the PSMA Magnetics Workshop.

A special congratulations to Mike Hayes who received a Special Recognition Award from PSMA (Power Sources Manufacturers Association) for his Leadership as PSMA Chair during the very challenging COVID period.

The Tyndall team also attended APEC’s first-ever student job fair allowing Tyndall to attract potential postgraduate students and build key relationships with fellow research institutes and industry partners.

The trip to Orlando generated significant impact with Tyndall showcasing its research excellence to an international audience both in academia and industry, delivering opportunities to increase our research collaborations.
